With today's death metal scene glutted by substandard bands lacking conviction and skill, the search for quality acts can seem like a hopeless journey across desolate desert sand, one which leaves fans desperate and disillusioed with an ever- growing thirst for the talent and bruality they crave. Hailing from South Carolina, NILE represent a ray of hope on a bleak horizon.
Formed in 1993 by Karl Sanders(Guitar/Vocals),Chief Spires(Bass/Vocals), and pete Hammoura(Drums), NILE wasted little time in creating a unique style of music blending the ferocity of modern day deathmetal with the ancient tones of the Middle East.

NILE's self-proclaimed "lthyphallic Metal" contains the strength and dynamics needed to transport the listener to distant landscape now buried by the sands of time. After releasing a single demo in 1994,the band honed in on their vision and began work on the well received Festivals Of Atonement cassette/CD, relased in 1995, At about the same time, the band played a number of shows in the Southeastern U.S. supporting such acts as OBITUARY, DEICIDE,BROKEN HOPE,and SIX FEET UNDER. NILE quickly gained the exposure needed to climb to the top in their local scene,Drawing more rabid fans with each show.

With "Amongst The Catacombs Of Nephren-Ka," NILE brings the past to the present and carries death metal in to the future. Tremendous drum blast beat down upon you like the oppressive midday sun in the heart of the Sahara. Howling vocals cry out from beneath the crypts of pharaohs long since past.Swirling guitar encircle the listener like vicious sandstorms, while venomous soloslash out with a swiftness of a desert asp. just subject yourself to the controlled chaos of Smashing the Antiu, the crptic barbarity of Barra Edinazzu, the crushing weight of Stones of Sorrow, or the sickening blast known as Pestilence and Iniquity. With a production job as messive and heavy as the pyramids themselves, Amongst... threatens to squash all non-believers while thousands of new followers are indoctrinated into the cult. Worshippers of the dead and devotees of the extreme will feast on those offerings like manna from the gods - NILE are an oasis bringing new life to the world of death.
