The Black Heart Procession

The Black Heart Procession consists of two main songwriters, Tobias Nathaniel and Pall A. Jenkins, who both were in Three Mile Pilot. At times they play a simple two piece, and at others they ask friends to join them onstage and in the recording studio to supplement the sounds. Mario Rubalcaba (Clikitat Ikitowi) and Jason Crane (Rocket From the Crypt) are two such friends that play drums and trumpet. Even Kazu Makino (Blonde Redhead) makes a long distance vocal appearance on the new album "Three" (Touch & Go Records).

The Black Heart Procession
breaks hearts with the melded sounds of piano, saw, pump organs, guitar, trumpet and vocals as well as the odd percussive instrument. The sound may cause some of you pain or joy, or both, as their music rings out with sorrow and heartache, yet there is an underlying element of emanicipation. Their live performances hypnotize and embrace, enticing you to drink more. The laments of of a devastated piano and weeping musical saw will have you taking sides with the tobacco industry. This lonliness began back in 1997 and continues all the way to now.
