Echobrain describes their music with one simple word - purple.
Longtime fan Karen Rawlings is a bit more verbose when describing
the band- Their sound is tight, melodic yet rocking, haunting,
soulful, sexy, energizing, soothing, funky, upbeat... it spans all
emotions, whether you just want to kick back and relax, or you feel
like getting crazy and rocking out. They do it all. The CD is amazing,
but to truly experience Echobrain, you have to catch them live,
to feel the vibe and see the extraordinary, effortless talent that
flows through every fiber of their beings.
Echobrain is a four-piece band from Northern California whose trippy
melodies have attracted the likes of rock legend Neil Young, who
brought them in as a supporting act on five shows of his most recent
tour. Their sound has been said to resemble an even mixture of Cream,
Soundgarden and The Velvet Underground. Dylan Donkin (vocals and
guitar) and Brian Sagrafena (drums) started jamming together back
in junior high school, and released their self-titled debut album
as Echobrain in 2002. At that time, the band also featured former
Metallica bassist Jason Newsted, but he has since left the band.
Newsted was already involved in other projects, and being aware
of the bands potential, did not want to hold Echobrain back.
Dylan and Brian have brought in ex-Jefes member and longtime friend
Andrew Gomez on guitar and electric piano, and Dylans brother
and ex-De' Briah member Adam Donkin on bass.
Echobrains new album Glean is set for release
in March of 2004. Join Echobrain and their friends for an evening
of free music on Sunday, December 21st.
