Now in the festivals third year, Baypop continues the tradition of presenting the best of the pop world to appreciative audiences, bringing a week of incredible music to the pop-starved fans in San Francisco. This years festival has been extended by an extra day, now running from Tuesday November 12 to Sunday November 17. That announcement was made today by Baypop founders Don Stroud and Paul Kopf. Baypop 2002 boasts a stellar lineup of performers covering both a broad range of pop styles as well as pop eras. From the indie energy of Sacramento's Baby Grand to the shimmering summertime vibes of local favorites the Orange Peels, there's something for everyone. Other highlights include a performance by international pop icon Chris von Sneidern, the pop-meets-funk sound of Call And Response, and a special appearance by Jason Falkner, former guitarist for Jellyfish and accomplished solo artist in his own right. The highlight of this years festival is the mind-bending bill of veterans the Chocolate Watchband and the Electric Prunes, both happening on November 16 at the Great American Music Hall. Fans of the Strokes and the Hives will appreciate the stripped-down, muscular pop rock of the Prunes, who were garage before garage was a style. "With an eclectic mix of performers coming from every corner of the pop world, this year's Baypop festival promises to be the best one yet," said Stroud. Baypop is an organization dedicated to bringing pop music to audiences in the San Francisco Bay Area. Founded in 2000 by Paul Kopf and Don Stroud, the group promotes and stages events that showcase both local and international acts. Now in its third year, the Baypop 2002 fall festival includes over 20 bands at six different venues in the San Francisco Bay Area.
