Jon Auer (co-singer/songwriter of pop legends The Posies) steps out on his own with the release of "6 1/2," an EP of masterfully personalized cover songs. After a hectic year spent promoting an avalanche of releases from the supposedly defunct Posies, Auer decided to hole up on his own in a studio this winter and "6 1/2" is the powerful result.

Featuring radically reworked versions of some Auer’s favorites by artists as diverse as the Psychedelic Furs, Madonna and Ween (among others) "6 1/2" shows a side of Auer that might surprise a lot of Posies fans.

"6 1/2," on which Auer did all production, engineering and arranging (as well as playing nearly all the instruments) is an intensely personal album for Auer. It marks his first official post-Posies work to be released in the U.S.

Auer brings his unique pop sensibility to this collection, which contains plenty of surprises in terms of song choice as well as arrangements. "6 1/2" finds Auer supplementing his guitar wizardry with plenty of lushly layered organ, beautiful piano and eerie harmonium as well as plenty of unidentifiable textures and sounds that keep the listener guessing.
