Sons and Daughters

"If this doesn't get you dancing like Uma in Pulp Fiction and fishing out the slut red lippy, then call me Bella Bogroll and shit in my lap. Abrasive, dark and sexy like a lady assassin, Gilt Complex is quite possibly one of the most perfectly constructed singles of the year. It should happily bitchslap Kate Nash right off her foundations."
( Disorder Magazine )

“It took four Glaswegians to put the death back into American country.” – Magnet , Oct/Nov 2005

“Brewing the erotically charged PJ Harvey purrs, growls and roars of dueling singers Adele Bethel and Scott Paterson with ghoulish, Nick Cave-like lyrics and dollops of country, blues, rockabilly and Americana, the band's music is simultaneously dark, menacing and utterly danceable.” – Nylon , August 2005

Written in a town called Adfern, located deep in the Scottish countryside, Glasgow 's very own Sons and Daughters are thrilled to announce the details of their second long-playing record, entitled This Gift, hit stores in January 2008 on Domino Records .

With the release of their first EP, Love the Cup , in 2004, and their subsequent, critically-acclaimed LP, The Repulsion Box , in 2005, Sons and Daughters have established themselves as one of the freshest, most exciting musical voices coming out of the UK . Combining elements of Scottish folk music, Americana drum stomps, rockabilly swagger and tragic love stories where brides die before ever making it down the aisle, no other band sounds quite like Sons and Daughters . And now, with This Gift , the band – comprised of singer/guitarist Adele Bethel , singer/guitarist Scott Paterson , bassist/mandolin player Ailidh Lennon and drummer David Gow – has returned with an album that sets them apart further still, not only from their peers but from their own former sound. Yes, ladies and gents, Sons and Daughters have made a bona fide pop record in a way that only they could, matching sugary choruses with menacing guitars, dramatic flourishes, bike gang backing vocals and heartbeat-pounding drums. Believe us when we tell you, it sounds nothing short of incredible
