Bay Rising is finally here. Eleven bands have played their hearts out, but only five have advanced to the play the finals at the Great American Music Hall on August 27th. From those five finalists, one band will rise to the top and claim over $10,000 in prizes.

Bay Rising, the premier bay area battle of the bands contest, seeks to discover and promote great, unsigned musical talent that exists in the Bay Area. Bay Rising consists of two components—the music competition occurring at the Great American Music Hall, and the Bay Rising Music Expo (details below), both produced by Yonas Media.

Bay Area bands Dynamic, Joel Streeter, Weather Pending, French Cassettes, and The Dandelion War will compete in front of hundreds of fans and a panel of judges to win the grand prize valued at $10,000. One winner will walk away with five days of studio recording time from Yonas Media; CD mastering and duplication from Charles Stella; two months of artist development from Fuze Management; and write ups in West Coast Performer Magazine, The Owl Mag, Fusicology.com. All bands competing in Bay Rising will receive invaluable advice on advancing their careers as well as other prizes from Universal Audio, FizzKicks.com, Zazzle, InGrooves, and SonicBids, and more.

Last year's event was an unqualified success as nearly 500 local music lovers turned out in force to cheer for their favorite bands. This year's event promises to be even better. The Bay Rising Music Expo, a free networking/community building event for Bay Area musicians, will occur before the show on August 27th at ArtHouse, located in the Mission District of San Francisco. From 5:30p-7:30p, a panel of music-industry experts will discuss how independent artists can promote themselves in today's do-it-yourself era. Participants will have the opportunity to win a guitar from Guitar Center (valued at $700) and a Universal Audio UAD1 Card(valued at $500). Other companies participating at the expo include BMI, InGrooves, Performer Magazine, SonicBids, The Owl Mag, Bands Of The Bay.com, Zazzle Music, CopyCats Media, Community Musician, Charles Stella Mastering, Cutting Edge, Listen to.me, Pyramid Media, GC Pro, and FizzKicks.

The Bay Rising final is guaranteed to be an exciting musical events, and we encourage members of the press to consider these events for critic's choice accolades.
